Total digitalization by 2026, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state administration will ensure 24-hour online services by 2026 through total digitalization, and the government is inching towards that goal.

Speaking at the government's 'Natun Dinor Alap' at Koinadhara, the Chief Minister enumerated the achievements of his government during the bygone year. He said, "We aimed to complete the digitalization of government services by 2026. We have started digital services to let people get jobs done without visiting government offices. The government issued 8,91,957 caste certificates online. The Revenue Department completed 3,18 lakh works online, apart from the 4.8 lakh works concerning Mission Basundhara. As many as 12,343 people sold and bought lands online, involving auto-mutation. The government has stopped manual land mutation. The Department of Transport completed 15 lakh works online."

He said, "Bringing back economic stabilization and increasing revenue earning are major achievements. Now, we can pay salaries to our employees with our resources. We depend on the central fund for paying pensions only. The rise in revenue earning is the fallout of a grinding halt to agitations in the state. The lack of agitation in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sivasagar districts led to an upsurge in oil royalty."

On EAPs (externally-aided projects), the Chief Minister said, "Infrastructure development EAP projects with an estimated cost of Rs 40,000 crore got approval. While projects with estimated costs of Rs 28,000 crore are going on, projects with estimated costs of Rs 12,000 crore are in the pipeline."

On other achievements, the Chief Minister said, "Poachers could not kill even a single rhino in the state in 2022. It is a positive side. The Cabinet sat 72 times at different places, yielding 966 decisions and implementing over 86 per cent of the decisions. As many as 198 chief minister-level review meetings of various departments took place in 2022 and discussed 2,762 points. I also visited 230 times places outside Guwahati for development works in 2022. Other ministers also visited various places to keep in touch with people last year."

On the exchange of zoo animals, including captive-bred ones, he said, "All these activities take place according to the regulations of the Central Zoo Authority of India. We will set up two more zoos in the state — Dibrugarh and Cachar. In the two proposed zoos, animals will be free, and the viewers will be in cages.
